I grew up in Salem and graduated from Salem High School in 1994. I received my Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from Virginia Tech in 1998 and a Master's Degree in Administration from the University of Scranton in 2008.
Growing up in this community I understand the value placed on education in our small town; that is why I wanted to teach in Salem. My husband and I are raising our two boys here. There is no other place I could imagine them growing up.
As a teacher I feel that it is my job to allow every child to grow in a safe environment. I want them to learn new things, including learning from their mistakes. I have high appropriate expectations for each child that sits in my classroom. My goal is to help them achieve both academic and social goals to become productive 4th grade citizens.
On a more personal note, I have two small boys. My husband and I love it here because we love being outside with the boys. Currently the park or anywhere our oldest can ride his bike is where you can find us after work. We hope the boys will also acquire our love for the outdoors and want to snowboard, mountain bike, camp, and hike like we do. I believe we live in such a great community and I am excited to teach my boys about this town called Salem.
